Tree plantation program was conducted in the CFNT campus on 28/09/2019. The program has commenced by preparing the manure by the cadets by mixing red soil with the ground soil. The cadets planted the saplings one each of their choice by choosing from varieties of trees. Total 24 saplings were planted by the cadets, dean, teaching assistance, driver and security personnel. The College of Fisheries Nautical Technology, a constituent unit of Tamil Nadu Dr. J.Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, has celebrated the World Maritime Day on 26.09.2019 at Fishing Harbour, Thoothukudi. The programme was conducted in collaboration the State Fisheries Department, Thoothukudi. Ms. Vayola, Assistant Director of Fisheries welcomed the gathering. Capt. S. Viswanathan, Dean, College of Fisheries Nautical Technology offered training on sea safety, marine pollution and health protection. The Inspector of Police, Tamil Nadu Sea Police, Tharuvaikulam provided awareness training on coastal security. The cadets from the College of Fisheries Nautical Technology have carried out coastal cleaning activities inside the fishing harbour. The 73rd Independence day was celebrated at the College of Fisheries Nautical Technology, Fishing Harbour campus, Thoothukudi. The celebration started with Tamilthai Vaazhthu. Dean Capt. S. Viswanathan has hoisted the Tricolour flag on this occasion and gave speech on the independence and the struggle and sacrifice faced by the freedom fighters for us to live happy life today. Also, he talked about the new college B. Tech FNT, and the aim of this college to produce cadets for deep sea fishing. This college teaching and training is slightly different from the other colleges as, the cadets are going to work on a fishing boat and live at sea for a while until he return back to shore. The cadets have to acquire special skills and knowledge to face the risks involved in the sea. The finally the celebration ended with the National Anthem and sweet was distributed to all.
