The 72nd Republic Day was celebrated on 26.01.2021 at Tamil Nadu Dr. J.
Jayalaithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam with fervor. Dr. G. Sugumar,
Vice-Chancellor of this university unfurled the national flag. On this
occasion, he remembered with gratitude the enormous efforts and
sacrifices of millions of freedom fighters whose blood and sweat gave us
Republic India. He explained how well the preamble to the constitution of
India reveals the entire philosophy of the Constitution. He also briefed the
fundamental rights to the citizen guaranteed in our constitution. He
narrated the growth and development of India in the current situation and
compared it to the time of independence. He emphasized India’s stand for
equitable distribution of vaccines to neighbouring countries against COVID-
19. Unity in Diversity is a distinguished feature of India that binds people
together he added. He also appealed to the employees to come forward to
contribute more towards building the nation. He honoured the best teaching
(Dr. N. Jayakumar, Associate Professor), research (Dr. A. Uma, Professor)
and extension (Dr. K. Chandrasekar, Subject Matter Specialist, KVK)
faculties of the University by providing appreciation certificate in recognition
of their contribution. Mr. R. Sudharsan, Miss. A. M. Deepika and Miss. K.
Geetha Final year students of B. Tech (Fisheries Engineering) spoke on
this occasion. University officers, staff and students participated.
