"Harnessing the Science of Fisheries for Food, Nutrition and Livelihood"
DIVF, Ramanathapuram organized an Awareness cum Training Programme on “Care and Maintenance of Marine Engines and Sea Safety at Sea” at Keelamundhal, Ramanathapuram on 27.01.2022
The Directorate of Incubation and Vocational Training in Fisheries (DIVF), a constituent unit of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University organized a one day on campus training programme on “Care and Maintenance of Marine Engines” from 13.12.2021 to 14.12.2021. In this connection a one day training programme entitled “Care and Maintenance of Marine Engines” was jointly organized by DIVF, Ramanathapuram and Department of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare, Rameshwaram. The participants of the training programme included fishermen from fishing villages such as Rameshwaram, Pamban and Thangachimadam of Ramanathapuram District. Mr.M.Kalaiarasan, Assistant Professor, welcomed the gathering. Mr.E. Kathavaraiyan, Deputy Director of Fisheries, Ramanathapuram participated as Chief Guest and graced the occasion. In his Chief Guest address, Deputy Director of Fisheries emphasized the need for fishermen to take up technical training on Marine Engine maintenance and Navigational equipments. Dr.N.Neethiselvan, Director, DIVF, Ramanathapuram presided over the function. Mr.A.Sivaramachandran, Assistant Director of Fisheries, Rameshwaram delivered felicitation addresses. Mr. Rameshbabu, Inspector of Fisheries, delivered the vote of thanks. Dr.N.Neethiselvan, Director, Mr.Kalaiarasan, Assistant Professor and Mr.A.Sivasudalaimani, Automobile Engineer of the DIVF served as resource persons and delivered talk on the following topics:
i. Care and maintenance of Marine Engines
ii. Navigational Signals and life saving appliances
iii. Role of DIVF in the education and training on fishing technology
- A total of 100 fishermen participated in the programme.
