On 03.04.2023, our Respected Vice-Chancellor declared open the new hatchery building constructed for the breeding of loaches at Mylaudi under the Directorate of Sustainable Aquaculture. This unit is managed by Kanyakumari Parakkai Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture (KKPCeSA) and built under a NADP funded project entitled “Establishment of a loach breeding unit in Kanyakumari District (2020-21).

The World Fisheries Day was celebrated at Kanyakumari Parakkai Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture, Parakkai on 20.11.2018. A total of 160 students and 10 teachers from Government High School, Parakkai attended the programme. During this occasion an awareness programme on Aquarium keeping & maintenance and exhibition related to ornamental fishes were organized in order to create awareness and promote aquarium keeping in their home either for hobby or commercial purpose. The students and staff from the school were benefitted by this programme. During this occasion a Pledge on World Fisheries Day was also taken.
