Trichy Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture

Mandates of the Centre:

To develop potential brooders and seeds of freshwater ornamental fishes for to supply farmers, entrepreneurs, small and large stakeholders.
To develop and standardize the culture technology for the mass scale production of live food organisms for freshwater ornamental fishes.
To run the hatchery for the students and staff research, training programmes for the benefit of ornamental fisherfolk to transfer the viable technologies through demonstration and training to the stakeholders.
To providing technical assistance to the farmers for setting up of ornamental fish farming units.

1	Establishment of Freshwater Ornamental Fish Broodbank for Sustainable Ornamental Aquafarming in Tiruchirappalli District	350.00 lakhs - NABARD	2018-22	The Centre was established under the scheme, with large indoor hatchery unit for rearing of ornamental fishes, live feed culture units, two laboratories include a water quality lab and a microbiological lab and training hall for the benefit of farmers.
