Dr.MGR.FC&RI, Ponneri hosts a Webinar on “Aquaculture in Action During Pandemic” on 19.04.2020 amid Lockdown

To encourage the Aquaculture stakeholders and to keep the momentum going amidst of the COVID-19 lockdown, Dr.MGR. Fisheries College & Research Institute, Ponneri which is a constituent unit of Tamil Nadu Dr.J.Jayalalithaa Fisheries University on 19.04.2020. Dr.B.Ahilan, Dean & Convener of the Webinar welcomed all the 50 participants and the speakers. Prof.S.Felix, Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr.J.Jayalalithaa Fisheries University delivered a talk on “Befitting Aquaculture Systems for the Benefit of Aquapreneurs” and highlighted the importance of suitable aquaculture systems for the Indian scenario. Dr.Aurore Trottet, Senior Executive Consultant from DHI, Singapore presented a talk on “Management of Harmful Algal Blooms in Aquaculture” and enlightened the importance of eco-modelling to avoid algal toxicity particularly in offshore aquaculture practices. Dr.Anburaj Amaldoss, Lecturer & Research Scientist at Temasek Polytechnic spoke on “A Rapid, Sensitive and Label Free Diagnostic Method for Simultaneous Detection of Four Different Shrimp Pathogens”. His invention and the possibility of customization of the detection of shrimp pathogens in the research platform by his institute was well received by the participants. Dr.Jean Meves Yevel, owner of Green & Blue Aquaponics farms shared his experience in building a Aquaponics Farm on a topic “Engineering Aquaponics for Eco-Friendly Fish Production” to the participants. Dr.M.Menaga, Program Coordinator of this webinar thanked for all the support rendered by the head of the institute and University for conducting this Webinar and also thanked the speakers and participants for their active participation.
