Open Day at Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi for public and students in commemoration of University Foundation Day

The Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi, organized an Open Day on 19.06.2023 for school students and the public to commemorate the establishment of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University. The objective of the event was to raise awareness about fisheries education among school students in and around Thoothukudi district. This college was established in Thoothukudi by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in October 1977, making it the second Fisheries College in India. It currently functioning as one of the constituent colleges of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University in Nagapattinam. The institute offers professional degree programmes such as B.F.Sc., M.F.Sc., and Ph.D., following the ICAR syllabus. The Open Day was inaugurated by Mrs. Rejini, Chief Educational Officer of Thoothukudi, in the presence of the Dean, Dr. B. Ahilan.

The college organized various exhibits exclusively for the visiting public and students, including a marine ornamental fish aquarium, glass aquarium, edible fishes, shrimps, crabs, lobsters, brooder fishes, models of integrated fish farms, and fish processing facilities. More than 22 schools with over 2000 students from Thoothukudi and its surrounding areas visited the event and benefited from it. Additionally, about 100 members of the public also visited the institute on the same day. During the event, students and teachers from various schools gathered information about fisheries education and employment opportunities. Dr. V. Rani, Professor in the Department of Aquatic Environment Management, coordinated the programme.

தூத்துக்குடி மீன்வளக் கல்லூரி மற்றும் ஆராய்ச்சி நிலையத்தில் கொண்டாடப்பட்ட பல்கலைக்கழக நிறுவன தின விழா

மீன்வளக் கல்லூரி மற்றும் ஆராய்ச்சி நிலையம் தனது பல்கலைக்கழகமான நாகப்பட்டினத்தில் உள்ள தமிழ்நாடு டாக்டர் ஜெ.ஜெயலலிதா மீன்வளப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் நிறுவன தினவிழாவை முன்னிட்டு கல்லூரியை பொதுமக்கள் மற்றும் மாணவர்கள் பார்வையிட அனுமதியளித்து 19.06.2023 அன்று பெருவிமரிசையாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. பள்ளிகல்லூரி மாணவர்கள் மற்றும் பொதுமக்களுக்கு மீன்வளக்கல்வி பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துவது இவ்விழாவின் முக்கிய குறிக்கோளாகும். இந்த கல்லூரியானது தமிழ்நாடு வேளாண் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தால் அக்டோபர் 1977 அன்று நிறுவப்பட்டது. இது இந்தியாவில் துவங்கப்பட்ட இரண்டாவது மீன்வளக் கல்லூரி ஆகும். இவ்விழாவானது கல்லூரி முதல்வர் முனைவர் ப.அகிலன் முன்னிலையில் திருமதி.ரெஜினி மாவட்ட முதன்மைக் கல்வி அலுவலர் அவர்களால் துவக்கி வைக்கப்பட்டது. இவ்விழாவில் பல்வேறு வகையான கடல் மீன்கள் இறால் மற்றும் சிங்கிறால் நண்டுகள் நன்னீர் அலங்கார மீன்கள் வண்ணமீன் தொட்டிகள் ஒருங்கிணைந்த பண்ணை மற்றும் உணவு பதப்படுத்தும் முறைகளின் மாதிரிகள் போன்றவை காட்சிப்பொருளாக கண்காட்சியில் வைக்கப்பட்டன. தூத்துக்குடி மற்றும் அதை சுற்றியுள்ள பகுதியிலிருந்து 26 பள்ளிகளைச் சார்ந்த 2000க்கும் மேற்பட்ட மாணவர்கள் திரளாக கலந்து கொண்டனர். மேலும் 100க்கும் மேற்பட்ட பொதுமக்கள் கலந்து கொண்டு மீன்வள அறிவியல் மற்றும் அத்துறை சம்பந்தப்பட்ட வேலைவாய்ப்புகள் குறித்த விளக்கங்களை அறிந்துகொண்டு பயன்பெற்றுள்ளனர். இக்கல்லூரி இளங்கலை மீன்வள அறிவியல் முதுகலை மீன்வள அறிவியல் மற்றும் முனைவர் பட்ட படிப்புகளை வழங்கி வருகிறது. இந்நிறுவன தின விழாவானது முனைவர் வே.ராணி பேராசிரியர் மற்றும் முனைவர் ந.ஜெயக்குமார் பேராசிரியர் அவர்களின் மேற்பார்வையில் நடத்தப்பட்டது.
