Fisheries College and Research Institute, Celebrated “World Ocean Day 2024”

An awareness programme was organized in commemoration of the “World Ocean Day 2024” by the Department of Fisheries Biology and Resource Management, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi on 8 th June 2024. A total of 150 students / researchers of the college participated in this programme. Dr. R. Durairaja, Assistant Professor welcomed the gathering. The Dean, Dr. B. Ahilan delivered the inaugural address and highlighted the importances of Oceans. Dr. N. Jayakumar, Professor and Head, Department of Fisheries Biology and Resource Management delivered a lecture on “Our Oceans: A Treasure in Need of Protection” emphasizing the importances of our Oceans, threats to oceans and strategies being followed for the protection of the oceans. Finally, Mr. K. Karuppasamy, Assistant Professor proposed a vote of Thanks.
