Training programme on Compost preparation using Fish solid waste held on 28.10.2024

One day training programme on - Compost preparation using Fish Solid Waste at Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi

It is estimated that 1 ton of fish wastes such as fins, guts, scales, tail, bones
etc. are being simply goes as waste in Tuticorin coastal region. Keeping this in view,
a one day awareness training on Compost preparation using Fish Solid
Waste was conducted by the Department of Aquatic Environment Management,
Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi on 28.10.2024. In the
inaugural function of the programme, Dr. V. Rani, Professor and Head, DAEM
welcomed the gathering. Dr. B. Ahilan, Dean felicitated and elaborated the
importance of compost preparation using Fish solid waste. He emphasized the
benefits of organic fertilizer for soil and plant health and importance of solid waste
management. Dr. V. Rani, Professor and Head delivered the lecture on  Various
methods of fish compost preparation and preparation of fish and seaweed
Liquid Fertilizer and Dr. D. Manimekalai, Assistant professor, Department of
Aquatic Environment Management delivered the lecture on Microbes in Fish
Composting and Enhancement of Composting Process and also
demonstrated the Fish Compost preparation using sawdust and sugarcane
bagasse and preparation of Seaweed Liquid Fertilizer during the practical
session by Dr. V. Rani, Dr. D. Manimekalai and Dr. A. Juliet Selvarani.

A total of 44 participants from the Kamaraj Women’s College and Pope’s
College, Sawyerpuram have participated and benefitted through this training. Two
pamphlets were issued to the participants and they were provided with a
participation certificate during the valedictory programme. A training manual on
Seafood Waste Composting was also released by the Dean of this institute.

தமிழ்நாடு டாக்டர். ஜெ. ஜெயலலிதா மீன்வளப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் ஓர் அங்கமான தூத்துக்குடி மீன்வளக் கல்லூரி மற்றும் ஆராய்ச்சி நிலையத்தின் நீர்வளச் சூழலியல் மேலாண்மை துறையில் “மீன் கழிவுகளைப் பயன்படுத்தி இயற்கை உரம் தயாரித்தல்” என்ற தலைப்பில் ஒரு நாள் பயிற்சி 28.10.2024 அன்று நடத்தப்பட்டது. பயிற்சி துவக்க விழாவில் முனைவர் ப. அகிலன் முதல்வர் அவர்கள் தலைமை ஏற்று தனது உரையில் “மீன் கழிவுகளில் இருந்து உரம் தயாரித்தலின்” முக்கியத்துவத்தை எடுத்துரைத்தார். மேலும் முனைவர் வே. ராணி பேராசிரியர் மற்றும் தலைவர் “மீன்கழிவுகளில் இருந்து உரம் தயாரித்தலின் பல்வேறு முறைகள் மீன் திரவ உரம் தயாரித்தல் கடல் பாசியிலிருந்து திரவ உரம் தயாரித்தல்” என்ற தலைப்பிலும் முனைவர் து. மணிமேகலை உதவி பேராசிரியர் “ உரம் தயாரிக்கும் செயல்முறையை அதிகப்படுத்தும் நுண்ணுயிரிகள்” என்ற தலைப்பிலும் உரையாற்றினார். மேலும் “மீன் கழிவுகளுடன் மரத்தூள் மற்றும் கரும்புச்சக்கையை பயன்படுத்தி உரம் தயாரிக்கும் தொழில்நுட்பம் மற்றும் கடற்பாசி திரவ உரம் தயாரித்தல்” பற்றிய செயல்முறை பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்பட்டது. இப்பயிற்சியில் காமராஜ் மகளிர் கல்லூரி தூத்துக்குடி மற்றும் போப் கல்லூரி சாயர்புரத்தை சேர்ந்த 44 மாணவர மாணவிகள் கலந்து கொண்டு பயன் பெற்றனர். இப்பயிற்சியில் 2 கைப்பிரதிகள் மற்றும் பயிற்சி கையேடு வெளியிடப்பட்டது. மேலும் இப்பயிற்சியில் கலந்து கொண்ட பயிற்சியாளர்களுக்கு சான்றிதழ்களும் வழங்கப்பட்டது.
