Organized Awareness programme on “Combating Plastic pollution” to celebrate World Environment Day 2025 held on 05.06.2025

Every year World Environment Day 2025 is celebrated on 5 th June to create the awareness of environmental issues like pollution, climate change, and deforestation. This year awareness programme on “Combating Plastic pollution” was conducted by the Department of Aquatic Environment Management, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi on 05.06.2025. Dr. D. Manimekalai, Assistant Professor and Head i/c, DAEM welcomed the gathering. Dr. P. Ganesan, Dean (i/c), felicitated and elaborated the steps needs to be taken for the conservation of nature. Mrs.Darmila, Assistant Environmental Engineer, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, Thoothukudi delivered a special lecture on “Marine Pollution control Measures’’ and highlighted the impact of plastic pollution in the marine ecosystem. She also inspires the students to adopt sustainable practices and systemic change to reduce plastic waste and its impact on the environment and human health. Dr. A. Juliet selvarani, Assistant Professor (c) delivered vote of thanks. Finally, “Manjapai” is distributed to all the participants at the valedictory programme.

உலக சுற்றுச்சூழல் தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு "நெகிழி மாசுபாட்டைக் குறைத்தல்" என்ற தலைப்பில் விழிப்புணர்வு நிகழ்ச்சி 05.06.2025 அன்று தூத்துக்குடி மீன்வளக் கல்லூரி மற்றும் ஆராய்ச்சி நிலையத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. நீர்வளச் சூழலியல் மேலாண்மை துறையின் உதவி பேராசிரியர் மற்றும் துறை தலைவர் முனைவர். து. மணிமேகலை வரவேற்புரை வழங்கினார். இக்கல்லூரியின் முதல்வர் (பொ) முனைவர் பா. கணேசன் அவர்கள் நெகிழிகளால் ஏற்படும் பாதிப்புகள் மற்றும் சுற்றுச்சூழலை பாதுகாக்கும் வழிமுறைகளை எடுத்துரைத்தார். மேலும், சிறப்பு விருந்தினர் திருமதி. டர்மிலா, உதவி சுற்றுச்சூழல் ஆய்வாளர், தமிழ்நாடு மாசுகட்டுபாட்டு வாரியம், தூத்துக்குடி அவர்கள் "கடல் மாசுபாட்டை கட்டுப்படுத்தும் முறைகள்" என்ற தலைப்பில் சிறப்புரை ஆற்றினார்.மேலும், அவர் நெகிழி கழிவுகளையும் அதனால் சுற்றுக்சூழல் மற்றும் மனித ஆரோக்கியத்தில் ஏற்படும் பாதிப்புகளைக் குறைக்க கையாள வேண்டிய முறையான நடைமுறைகளை கடைபிடிக்க மாணவர்களை ஊக்குவித்தார். முனைவர். அ. ஜூலியட் செல்வராணி, உதவிபேராசிரியர் நன்றியுரை வழங்கினார். இறுதியில் நெகிழி பை பயன்பாட்டைக் குறைத்து துணி பை உபயோகத்தை ஊக்குவிக்கும் வகையில் விழிப்புணர்வு நிகழச்சியில் பங்கேற்ற மாணவர்களுக்கு துணிப்பை (மஞ்சப் பை) வழங்கப்பட்டது.
