A One day Hands on Training program on "Taxonomy and Identification of Commercial Important Cephalopods" conducted on 10.06.2025

The Department of Fisheries Biology and Resource Management, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi organized a Hands-on One day Training programme on "Taxonomy and Identification of Commercial Important Cephalopods" on 10.06.2025.

The inaugural session started at 9.30 a.m. at AV Hall, FC&RI, Thoothukudi. Dr.B.Ahilan, Dean of this institute presided over the function. He emphasized that cephalopods species identification is very much important to the field level and skilled staff. Further, the processing plant is in need of understanding various techniques to identify the cephalopods specimens. Further, Dr.R.Durairaja, Assistant Professor and Organizing Secretary welcomed the gathering. A total of 27 skilled workers and staff (17 female and 10 male) from M/s.Amulya Seafood Processing Plant, Thoothukudi were participated in this training.

During this training programme, the trainees were taught to identify various cephalopods specimen such as Squid, Cuttlefish and Octopus. During the valedictory function, a few of the trainees shared their feedback about this training programme and the Dean Dr.B.Ahilan were distributed the participation certificates to the trainees. Finally, Mr.K.Karuppasamy, Assistant Professor proposed a vote of thanks.
