Orientation Programme at IFBT

Orientation programme for welcoming the new faces of I B.Tech (Biotechnology) was held in the auditorium of the Institute Fisheries of Post Graduate Studies (IFPGS) on 05.09.2018.

The programme started with the traditional lamp-lightening ceremony by Prof. Dr. N. Sukumaran, Chief guest and Dr. K. Karal Marx, Dean, IFPGS. This was followed by welcome address by Dr.V.Kaliyamurthi, Assistant Professor.

Dr.B.Chrisolite, Assistant Professor gave an overview of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University. Mrs.A.Jemila Thangarani, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of I B.Tech presented the academic rules for B.Tech. (Biotechnology). Dr.E.Suresh, Assistant Professor and Deputy Warden, Boys Hostel gave an outlook of the facilities available in the Institute for students and the rules to be followed at the boy’s hostel. He also presented the activities of the Students Association. Dr. Ambika Binesh, Teaching Assistant Presented on the importance and scope of B. Tech. (Biotechnology) degree programme.

Dr. K. Karal Marx in his presidential address congratulated the students and welcomed them to the prestigious University. He further motivated the students to actively participate in all the programmes to be conducted in the Institute, hone their skills and work hard both in academics and extracurricular activities. Prof. Dr. N.Sukumaran, in his Felicitation address highlighted the importance of the course and the opportunities available to the students in India and abroad for which the students have to work hard from the very start.

This was followed by self introduction of the students. Ms.K. Aruljothi, Teaching Assistant and Counsellor of I B.Tech (Biotechnology) proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Jemila Thangarani and Dr. V. Kaliyamurthi, Coordinator of I B.Tech and II B.Tech respectively.
