Visit of Official Delegation from SHOU, China and signing MoU with TNJFU

An Official Delegation from the Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FFST) of Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU), Shanghai, China visited the Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalaithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) from 07 to 09, August, 2018 as part of the International Cooperation Project Agreement between both the Universities. The Delegation comprised of Prof. Jing Xie, Dean, Prof. Yong Zhao, Vice Dean, Prof. Wenhui Wu, Dept. of Marine Pharmaceutical, Prof. Bin Bao, and Dr. Jeevithan Elango, Dept. of Marine Pharmaceutical. The delegation visited the TNJFU Campus of Fisheries College & Research Institute at Thoothukudi on 07.08.2018 and interacted with faculty members and students. The delegation held discussion on the progress of the International Cooperation Project with the Scientist, Prof. R. Jeya Shakila, HoD, Dept. of Fish Quality Assurance and Management as part of the Cooperation Project Agreement. The delegates were taken to Ms. Edhayam Frozen Foods, Pudukottai, Thoothukudi Dist. on 07.08.2018 for an interaction with the seafood processing industry. On 08.08.2018, they were taken to M/s. DSF Aquafarm, Kalaignapuram, Thoothukudi Dist. for onsite exposure to shrimp farming. Later, they visited Erwadi and Mandapam for exposure to seaweed resources. On 09.08.2018, they visited the shrimp hatchery run by Mr. Ephrem and Mr. Michael Antony.

On 09.08.2018, the Delegates visited the TNJFU Headquarters at Nagapattinam and interacted with the University Officers viz. Prof. A. Srinivasan, Registrar, Prof. G. Jeyasekaran, Director of Research, Prof. M. Nagore Meeran, Director of Extension Education, Dr. S.A. Shanmugam, Controller of Examinations, and Dr. B. Sundaramoorthy, Dean, Dr. FC&RI, Thalaignayeru. Prof. Jing Xie presented the activities of FFST of SHOU and Prof. G. Jeyasekaran presented the overview of TNJFU in the meeting. During that occasion, a MoU was signed by the Director of Research, Prof. G. Jeyasekarn for TNJFU, and Dean, Prof. Jing Xie for FFST of SHOU in the presence of the Registrar, Prof. A. Srinivasan for the benefits of faculty members, students and researchers of both the Universities.
