Current Focus

  • The laboratory has implemented the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 since 2017; and the immediate focus is to get accreditation from National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) to act as nodal center for testing aquatic food products.
  • The laboratory pledges to function continuously as a self-sustained body in the University to serve the society assuring quality and safety of aquatic food; and expand in a big mode of 24x7.
  • The laboratory aspires to develop some rapid test kits for easy operation by consumers and quality inspectors onboard and offshore focusing on non-destructive methods.
  • The laboratory also plans to conduct need-based trainings to fisheries professional. fisherfolk and students to provide them skill to take up employment in food testing laboratories.
