The National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) is a competency based framework that organizes qualifications according to a series of knowledge, skills and aptitude. The NSQF levels, graded from one to ten, are defined in terms of learning outcomes which the learner must possess regardless of whether they are obtained through formal, non formal or informal learning. National Occupational Standards (NOS) are statements of the skills, knowledge and understanding needed for effective performance in a job role and are expressed as outcomes of competent performance.

Objectives

The objectives of the scheme of B.Voc degree programme are

  • To provide judicious mix of skills relating to a profession and appropriate content of general education
  • To ensure that the students have adequate knowledge and skills, so that they are work ready at each exit point of the programme
  • To provide flexibility to students by means of pre-defined entry and multiple exit points
  • To integrate NSQF within the undergraduate level of higher education in order to enhance employability of the graduates and meet industry requirements

The University Grants Commission, New Delhi has approved the B.Voc degree (Industrial Fish Processing Technology) Rs.1,04,50,000/- (Rupees One crore four lakhs and fifty thousand only). The Government of Tamil Nadu had sanctioned a budget of Rs.500.00 lakhs for the establishment of Paraprofessional Institute of Fisheries Technology.
